Hi Friends! I am so excited to share with you the experience I had with building my coffee nook. You might think I’m unhinged for taking on this build amidst the chaos of holiday preparation, the stair makeover and raising my family of 5 (plus 4 adorable critters,) but what can I say?
I have no regrets. This build brought me to life, as any good DIY project does.
This coffee nook is particularly special, because it features a gorgeous built-in filtered water dispenser from Elkay. (Yes, I installed it all on my own.) Check out the Coffee Bar Highlight on my Instagram to see how it all went!

For this project, I first demoed my kitchen pantry. This involved removing the door, the door frame, and existing shelving to make space for a 3-drawer cabinet that I scored at The Home Depot.
Unfortunately, there still was not enough space for the cabinet, so I ended up opening up the wall even further. I used the RYOBI multitool to make the cut.
Installing the Elkay was easier than you’d expect. The filter itself fits easily between two wall studs which is awesome. You just need access to an outlet and water source. I ran our waterline up from the basement which was actually super easy.
This is definitely easier when your basement is unfinished. Drywalling after installing the filter was easy because I used these little drywall panels, which are so convenient and just make the process so much easier.
Once all of that was done and the wall was patched, I went in with this beautiful floral wallpaper. I was feeling inspired by the beloved Ralph Lauren Christmas color scheme this year, so I wanted my color palette for this project to be rich, classic, and full of gem tones.
For the color, I had this one candle that I’m absolutely obsessed with the color of, so I actually took it to Home Depot and had them create a custom color based on color matching the candle to create a beautiful burgundy paint color for the cabinet.

I used the BEHR Ultra Scuff Defense Interior paint in Satin finish. The custom color details are in the pic below!

For the counter of the coffee bar, I went with a big marbled tile piece that I found at Home Depot. Then I used my wet saw by Ryobi to cut it down to size before putting it into place.
After that I added a shelf that I painted in the same color as the cabinet.
When all was said and done, I decided to maximize storage (so many of you had concerns about me getting rid of my pantry!) so I added a toe-kick drawer.
I think it turned out beautifully! Let me know what you guys think!
Next?: I’m working on the arch for the doorframe! Tune in to instagram to see how that goes!
