Ollie’s fold away feeding station

January 1, 2025

As a dog owner, you know that keeping your furry friends fed and happy is a top priority. I used to constantly trip over Ollie’s traditional feeding station, and it quickly became clear that I needed a better solution. That’s where the fold-away dog feeding station comes in — a game-changer for both practicality and style.

Materials and Tools Needed

Multi tool
saw
Drill
Frame – used one I had
Hinges
Command strips
Dog food dish
Flat corner joints
Dry wall spackling
Rub n buff

Step-by-Step Guide

If you’re a DIY enthusiast, you can create your own fold-away feeding station by following these simple steps:

Step 1: Picking the frame size/ location

  • Pick the Frame and Size: Start by selecting a frame that fits your dog’s size and the space where you’ll install the station.
  • Cut a Hole in the Wall: Select the ideal location in your home to install the wall-mounted dog feeding station. Accurately measure and cut a hole in the wall, ensuring the custom pet station frame fits securely and seamlessly.
  • Assemble and Install the Frame: Cut pieces of wood and glue them together to form a sturdy frame. Use L corner pieces to secure the joints, ensuring durability. Next, staple on a backing to create a box-like structure. Insert this frame into the hole in the wall, then drill it in to hold it securely in place.

Step 2: Assembling the Feeder

  • screw a wood piece to the back of the frame to act as a cover or top for the bowls when the station is pulled out. This dual-purpose design ensures both functionality and a clean look when the station is in use or stored away.
  • Secure a hinge onto the picture frame at the point where you want it to fold, then screw the hinge into the wall to create the fold-away mechanism.
  •  For added stability, attach a chain to the wall and secure it onto the tabletop with a screw loop. This ensures the feeding station stays steady during use.
  • Attach collapsible bowls to the picture frame using command strips for easy setup and removal.
  • Add custom touches to make the feeding station uniquely yours. For Ollie, I added a decorative bow for a pop of personality and a scoop for his food. After scooping, I can hang the scoop back on the frame, ensuring it’s always handy and right by his bowls. This small addition makes mealtime even more organized and efficient.

Final Thoughts:

The fold-away dog feeding station is more than just a trendy gadget — it’s a practical, thoughtful addition to any pet parent’s toolkit. Whether you’re looking to save space, keep things clean, or simply make your dog’s meal time more enjoyable, this innovative product ticks all the boxes.

If you’re on the fence about investing in one, take it from a pet parent who’s seen the difference: it’s worth it. Both you and your dogs will appreciate the upgrade.
