This was one of the easiest and fun projects in the boy’s bedroom.
For the climbing wall I used a 4’x8’x1” sheet of maple plywood. It was ALMOST just the perfect height – but with our 8’ ceilings, I ended up trimming 1/4” off the height of the maple plywood sheet. For the climbing wall, I used a climbing wall rock kit from Amazon.com and I spray painted the colorful rocks gray.
I built a simple base frame out of 2x4s that I screwed securely into the wall studs.
Once the plastic climbing walls rocks were all painted and dry – I went and attached the rocks to the maple plywood. After that, I could then screw the plywood onto the base frame making the climbing wall hold secure. Of course there where some screw holes to wood fill and sand, but all in all it was a pretty easy project and my boys love it!
