While girls nights should happen everyday of the year sometimes we need to rely on the day of love, or the day before that is, for everyone to clear their schedules and get together.
Galentine’s Day became famous after its mention in an episode of hit TV show Parks and Recreations in 2010 where Leslie Hope describes it as “It’s only the best day of the year! Every February 13th, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and our boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it—breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies.” Side note if you haven’t watched Parks and Recreations yet please do yourself a favor and download whatever streaming service that baby is on because it’s – EPIC.
Getting back on topic here are 5 ways to celebrate a night of love for your girls!
DIY Hat Bar
I am so here for this trend! I love me a cute baseball cap AND you’re telling me I can DIY it too – sold! To break it down for anyone who hasn’t seen this on their socials all you need to do is grab your girls, pick your favorite style hat on Amazon (either a traditional baseball hat or a cute trucker hat,) snag a mini heat press and pick out your favorite style of iron – on – patches and you’re free to start crafting. If you really want to get fancy you can add things line hat chains or these cute decorative safety pins I have added onto my Amazon list. Oh and one more thing! Feel free to layer patches on top of each other for an even cuter “messier” look!
DIY Candle Painting
Okay this has to be the most wholesome and sweet DIY ever. I can just picture everyone sitting around a coffee table eating Chinese food and painting candles while watching some trashy tv show – ugh so cute! All you need are white tapered candles, thin paint brushes and acrylic paints or tea candles for the colors. Using the melted wax from the tea candles has to be my favorite of the two – so crafty am I right? Oh one more thing don’t forget to buy some candle holders to use while your masterpiece drys.
DIY Charm Bracelet
This one brings me to my youth you guys! Throwback to the OG charm bracelets that use to pull everyone’s arm hair out but beauty is pain. If you know you KNOW. You will for sure need a bit more love and time when making these compared to the others. Aside from picking what charms you like the most you will need to learn how to open and close a “jump ring.” For that I invite you to YouTube! To give you the gist you are going to want to use two sets of the long nosed pliers to pry the ends of the jump ring or small circle open, slide the circle of the charm and then use the pliers to close the jump ring and viola!
DIY Themed Board Night
A quick viral trend that I am absolutely obsessed with! I love a good charcuterie board and the concept of grazing while entertaining guests, give it a theme and I’m IN. Bonus, all you have to do for this is start a group chat and tell everyone to pick their themes. Some examples are fast food places like Chick-fil-a, Taco Bell, McDonalds or Raising Canes – all filled with foods from that restaurant. You can even go as basic as a fruit filled board with a fun dessert dip, a fondue board with either chocolate or cheese and a chocolate dessert board. The ideas are really endless and for that I love this even more.
DoorDash Roulette
I have the strongest urge to do this trend with my kids for the sole purpose of seeing what restaurants they pick and how fun this would be during a movie night! With a similar vibe to the charcuterie night everyone picks a different type of cuisine and has a limit of $30 or $50 (pick the limit before starting) and orders their favorite items from a restaurant on DoorDash. You could have everyone write down a cuisine on a piece of paper and pick out of a hat or you can use the SpinTheWheel some lovely human created to make it even easier! Examples can be Italian, Mexican, Chinese, Thai, sushi, pizza or Chicken.
Alright ladies, it’s time to get the group chats and facebook invites ready! Remember going all out with decorations, planning the perfect menu and an organized activities is can be amazing but simple get together can be just as good.
